One of the newcomers to the 2015 Rochford Art Trail
Rochford Life: Lois, how long have you been doing this sort of artwork?
Gill: It must be about ten years now, I think. I’ve always done bits and pieces of craft-
RL: I see you are painting these clocks but I suspect you do more than this?
Lois: That’s right, I do cupboards and picture frames and stool and chairs, and wardrobes. These clocks are the latest thing, works in progress to be complete for the Art Trail
RL: Which is probably why you are exhibiting in March Hares? How are you feeling about the Trail?
Lois: A little bit nervous because it is the first time, but Kerry is a friend so I don’t have any qualms about being there because I have worked a couple of days in the shop. It’s a lovely shop.
Introducing some of the newcomers to the 2015 Rochford Art Trail
RL: May I ask, are these clocks hand painted or are these stuck on?
Lois: They are all hand painted. If you know the Bloomsbury artists, well they have a house down in Sussex that is open to the public. (see http://www.charleston.org.uk/ ) Each clock is decorated in the style of one of the rooms.
RL: What prompted you into this sort of work?
Lois: I was at home with four children and I wanted to do something for myself so I took to locking myself away and starting doing this sort of thing and once I started selling things, as well as the shear satisfaction of it, I continued with it. I tend to sell on e-
